The Russian agricultural sector continues to innovate with new crop varieties designed to increase yields and enhance crop quality. Among the most promising additions are the winter wheat varieties Ermolovka and Sistema, and the soybean variety Teiri, all developed by Shcholkovo Agrokhim and recently included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements.

Ermolovka is a unique high-tech winter wheat variety, known for its exceptionally high ear fertility. It stands out as the first domestic high-performance wheat variety, achieving a maximum productivity of 165.7 centners per hectare (ц/га). In real production conditions, the variety has demonstrated remarkable yields, reaching 122.6 ц/га in 2022 and 2023, earning it a place in the Russian Book of Records for its record-breaking yields. Additionally, Ermolovka is highly resistant to both diseases and environmental stresses, and it responds well to intensive farming practices.

Sistema, another highly productive winter wheat variety, is designed for high yield potential while maintaining excellent baking properties. This variety stands out for its drought tolerance, a crucial trait in areas with unpredictable water availability. In production settings, Sistema has achieved 101.3 ц/га, with the potential to reach 143.8 ц/га. With its resilience to weather conditions, including frost tolerance up to -25°C, Sistema is a game-changer for farmers. The grain produced is of top quality, classified as 3rd grade wheat, with protein content reaching up to 14.79% and gluten content up to 29%.

Meanwhile, Teiri, a high-performance early-ripening soybean variety, has been approved for use in Russia’s southern regions. Teiri has shown a yield increase of up to 3 ц/ha over the standard varieties, with a maximum yield of 46.3 ц/ha. The protein content in Teiri’s seeds reaches an impressive 41.3%, making it highly desirable for both food and feed production. In 2024, Teiri reached a realized potential yield of 52.3 ц/ha, with a protein content of 40%. Teiri is also resistant to diseases and lodging, ensuring stable yields under various field conditions.

The introduction of varieties like Ermolovka, Sistema, and Teiri offers Russian farmers new tools to enhance productivity, quality, and resilience. These innovations are particularly valuable in the face of climate change, providing crops that can withstand adverse weather conditions while delivering high-quality yields. As these varieties are adopted across different agricultural regions, they have the potential to significantly improve Russia’s agricultural output, supporting both domestic food security and international trade.
