Minister of Agriculture Carlos Fávaro Supports Rural Production with New Equipment

On Friday, July 5th, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, delivered 36 agricultural machines in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul (RS), to support rural activities and production flow in the state. The event, held at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Sul (FIERGS), also included the participation of Paulo Pimenta, Minister of the Extraordinary Secretariat for the Reconstruction of Rio Grande do Sul.

The equipment, worth a total of R$ 8.7 million, was funded by parliamentary amendments from the federal region’s delegation, released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa). The machinery includes 26 tractors, 6 motor graders, 3 hydraulic excavators, and 1 backhoe loader, benefiting a total of 34 municipalities.

Minister Fávaro emphasized the efficiency in the disbursement process to assist local agriculture. “For the first time, the amendments allocated in the same year are already being executed. This is a directive from President Lula and a commitment we made with the mayors and parliamentarians who trusted and allocated the resources, and today they are here participating in another significant delivery for the state’s reconstruction,” he stated.

Fávaro also highlighted the ongoing commitment to the reconstruction of agriculture in Rio Grande do Sul. “We established the Itinerant Office here in the state. Every day, we are traveling across the state and making field diagnoses. Embrapa is also involved. We are determined to pursue the path of reconstruction.”

Minister Paulo Pimenta underscored the government’s efforts. “President Lula initiated a support program called Reconstruction Aid. We have already paid more than R$ 1.3 billion to 274,000 families to help them restart. This significantly boosts our economy.”

Pimenta also stressed the importance of immediately suspending deadlines for rural credit debt payments. “The Federal Government’s decision to extend the debt payment deadline to August 15th was crucial. Together with our delegation and productive sector, we will develop a proposal to allow our agriculture to breathe.”

Simultaneously, 17 agricultural machines were delivered in Porto Velho, Rondônia (RO), to support agriculture in 9 municipalities. Funded by parliamentary amendments from the federal delegation of the region and released by Mapa, these machines represent an investment of R$ 8.2 million, including 8 backhoe loaders and 9 hydraulic excavators.

Nationwide Support

This week, Mapa also delivered agricultural machinery to 15 municipalities in Espírito Santo. The first ceremony occurred on Thursday, July 4th, in Serra, in the metropolitan region of Vitória (ES), where 12 backhoe loaders worth R$ 3.78 million were handed over. On Friday, July 5th, the Federal Superintendence of Agriculture in Espírito Santo (SFA-ES) delivered an additional 4 tractors worth R$ 960,000 in Vitória.

In total, 101 agricultural machines were delivered nationwide this week.

Itinerant Office and Emergency Program

To address the consequences of climatic events in Rio Grande do Sul, Minister Carlos Fávaro established the Itinerant Office of Mapa in the state on May 28th. This team moves between the municipalities of affected areas, based on preliminary evaluations of impacted regions and activities.

Additionally, the Emergency Reconstruction Program for Agribusiness in Rio Grande do Sul, known as PERSul, was instituted. The initiative aims to assist in the reestablishment of agricultural activities.

On the same date, 32 yellow line agricultural machines were delivered to support agribusiness in the affected regions. A total of 31 municipalities benefited from these machines, including backhoe loaders, motor graders, and hydraulic excavators, funded by parliamentary amendments from the federal delegation of Rio Grande do Sul.
