On April 17, 2025, Tunisia’s Office des Céréales (ODC) conducted an international tender to purchase 75,000 metric tons of soft wheat. The tender attracted 17 global trading companies, highlighting the competitive nature of the global grain market.

Tender Outcomes:

  • Cargill secured two lots:
    • 25,000 tons at $262.91 per ton
    • 25,000 tons at $263.91 per ton
  • Viterra was awarded one lot:
    • 25,000 tons at $264.86 per ton

The shipment period for these consignments is scheduled between May 20 and June 30, 2025, depending on the origin of the wheat.

Market Context:

The tender’s price range, from $262.91 to $282 per ton, indicates a favorable position for Tunisia in the current global wheat market. This procurement aligns with Tunisia’s ongoing efforts to stabilize domestic grain supplies and mitigate potential food security risks.

Tunisia’s successful acquisition of 75,000 metric tons of soft wheat through a competitive tender process underscores the country’s proactive measures in securing essential food commodities. By engaging with reputable global suppliers like Cargill and Viterra, Tunisia demonstrates its commitment to maintaining stable grain reserves and ensuring food security for its population.
