The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has launched a vigorous procurement campaign, successfully securing over 2 million tons of wheat and barley from producers across the nation. Beginning on May 14, 2024, TMO has been actively purchasing grain to stabilize the market and support farmers amidst fluctuating agricultural conditions. This initiative spans more than 600 procurement points, including licensed warehouses with established protocols, underscoring TMO’s extensive efforts to bolster the agricultural sector.

Intensive Procurement Efforts

Since the inception of the 2024 Grain Procurement Campaign, TMO has been operating across numerous facilities nationwide to ensure efficient grain collection. The organization’s social media account highlights the breadth of these activities, emphasizing the seamless operation at over 600 procurement sites. This network includes both TMO’s offices and licensed storage facilities, all coordinated to handle the substantial intake of grain.

Record-Breaking Procurement

As of the latest reports, TMO has procured over 2 million tons of wheat and barley. This substantial quantity reflects the effectiveness of the campaign and the proactive measures taken by TMO to support the agricultural community. The procurement includes all the wheat and barley registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) that producers wish to sell to TMO.

Measures and Preparations

TMO has assured that all necessary measures and preparations have been made for storage and handling of the procured grain. The organization has implemented comprehensive strategies to ensure smooth operations and secure storage conditions. Additionally, TMO has committed to periodic payments, ensuring that the producers receive timely financial compensation for their produce.

Financial and Logistical Support

Financial support and timely payments are critical components of TMO’s strategy. By transferring product payments periodically to producers’ accounts, TMO aims to provide financial stability and assurance to the farming community. This approach not only supports the farmers but also helps maintain market equilibrium.

Ongoing Commitment

TMO has reiterated its commitment to continue procurement activities, leveraging all available resources to support producers. The organization’s ongoing dedication highlights its role as a pivotal player in Turkey’s agricultural sector, ensuring that farmers have a reliable buyer for their crops and that the nation’s grain reserves remain robust.

The Turkish Grain Board’s successful procurement of over 2 million tons of wheat and barley signifies a strong commitment to supporting the agricultural sector. By ensuring efficient procurement processes, secure storage, and timely financial compensation, TMO is playing a crucial role in stabilizing the grain market and supporting Turkish farmers. As TMO continues its efforts, the organization remains a cornerstone of Turkey’s agricultural infrastructure, fostering growth and resilience in the sector.
