Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture initiates the process for contracting Funcafé funds for the 2024/25 harvest season.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) of Brazil has published Ordinance No. 88/2024 in the Official Gazette (DOU) this Friday, July 12, initiating the period for receiving proposals to contract resources from the Coffee Economy Defense Fund (Funcafé) for the 2024/25 harvest season.

Financial institutions that are part of the National Rural Credit System (SNCR) and authorized to operate Funcafé funds, and are interested in operationalizing these resources for the 24/25 harvest, have eight consecutive days from the publication date of the Ordinance to submit their proposals for contracting and the required documentation for qualification.

The deadline for proposal submission is exclusively open to financial institutions that had contracts with Mapa for operating Funcafé resources in 2023 and meet the criteria set out in Article 1 of Resolution No. 5.138/2024 of the National Monetary Council (CMN). If qualified, these institutions will enter into additional terms to their existing contracts to cover the 24/25 harvest season.

Financial institutions that did not have contracts in 2023 will have the opportunity to submit their proposals according to the terms of the Accreditation Notice, which will be published in due course.

Proposals for contracting and the necessary documentation for qualification must be sent to the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy exclusively via the email address funcafe-contratos@agro.gov.br.
