Kazakhstan’s “Prodcorporation” (National Grain Operator) has reported a record-breaking 1.2 million tons of grain exports from September 2024 to August 2025, marking the highest volume in the past decade. Asylkhan Dzhuvashev, Chairman of the Board, announced this milestone at a company meeting, highlighting a strategic expansion into new markets while maintaining strong trade with traditional partners.

Breakdown of Sales: Domestic and Export Growth

  • Domestic market: 390,000 tons (supporting local food security)
  • Direct exports: 360,000 tons
  • Exports via traders: 453,000 tons

Prodcorporation now accounts for 8.9% of Kazakhstan’s total grain exports, reinforcing its role as a major player in the global grain trade.

Expanding Global Footprint: New and Returning Markets

Kazakhstan has diversified its export destinations, supplying grain to:

  • Traditional buyers: China, Central Asia, Iran
  • New markets: Morocco, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Algeria
  • Returning partners: Azerbaijan and Georgia (after a 5-year hiatus)

This expansion comes as global demand for affordable wheat remains strong, particularly in Africa and Southeast Asia, where population growth and food security concerns drive imports.

Competitive Edge and Future Prospects

Kazakh wheat is gaining traction due to:

  • Competitive pricing compared to Russian and EU grain
  • Improved logistics, including rail and port upgrades
  • Strategic trade agreements with key importers

With global wheat stocks tightening (FAO forecasts a 3% decline in 2025), Kazakhstan is well-positioned to capitalize on rising demand.

A Rising Grain Powerhouse

Kazakhstan’s record exports demonstrate its growing influence in global grain markets. By securing new trade partners and optimizing supply chains, the country is poised to become an even bigger player in the years ahead.
