MIDAGRI’s New Irrigation Project Aims to Enhance Sustainable Growth in the Agro-Sector

The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) is taking significant strides towards enhancing family agriculture in the province of Sucre. Through the Special Project Sierra Centro Sur, MIDAGRI has inaugurated the Millpo Dam, a vital irrigation project that will benefit over 13,000 residents in the region.

This significant initiative comes with an investment exceeding S/ 11 million and is set to irrigate 475 hectares of farmland. The introduction of this dam is not only a milestone in water resource management but also a catalyst for the sustainable growth of the agricultural sector, which is the primary economic activity in the area.

The Millpo Dam aims to address critical irrigation needs, ensuring that local farmers have access to reliable water sources for their crops. This project represents a commitment to improving agricultural productivity and supporting the livelihoods of families dependent on farming.

The benefits of such irrigation projects extend beyond mere water supply; they foster economic stability, enhance food security, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. By prioritizing these initiatives, MIDAGRI is paving the way for a more resilient agricultural landscape in Sucre, thereby contributing to the overall development of the region.
