With the arrival of spring, Dingxing County in Hebei province is experiencing a vibrant resurgence in its agricultural fields. Approximately 475,000 mu (about 31,667 hectares) of winter wheat are entering the greening stage, showcasing lush green seedlings basking under the sun. To ensure these crops receive adequate water and nutrients during this critical period, technicians are employing advanced integrated water-fertilizer spray irrigation systems for precise irrigation.

Local grain producer Zhang Xiaofeng highlighted the benefits of these modern systems, noting that irrigation times have been reduced from over ten days to just three to five days. This advancement not only saves time and labor but also significantly reduces water consumption, ensuring optimal moisture and nutrient supply during the wheat’s greening phase.

Dingxing County has been proactive in enhancing agricultural infrastructure. Utilizing agricultural Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, weather stations, drones, and other smart technologies, real-time management of wheat crops has become a reality. Technicians can monitor wheat growth through satellite and drone field inspections, enabling timely water and fertilizer management and early disease prevention, ensuring robust seedlings during the greening period.

As a nationally recognized advanced grain-producing county, Dingxing is committed to its responsibility of stabilizing and increasing grain production. By implementing new agricultural infrastructure, exploring innovative technology-assisted farming models, and upgrading agricultural machinery, the county tailors planting plans to local conditions. Comprehensive and precise management of crops is achieved through technological empowerment, enhancing agricultural quality and efficiency, thereby supporting abundant grain harvests.

Hebei province, as a whole, has made significant strides in agricultural development. To date, the province has constructed 54 million mu (approximately 3.6 million hectares) of high-standard farmland, serving as a “cornucopia” for farmers’ income and prosperity. In Dingxing County, high-standard farmland construction has entered the 3.0 smart era, with both above-ground and underground high-tech support. An intelligent water-fertilizer integration system is installed underground, allowing for the combined delivery of water and fertilizer, thereby improving efficiency and effectiveness.

The integration of advanced technologies in Dingxing County exemplifies the transformative impact of modern agricultural practices. By embracing innovations such as integrated water-fertilizer systems and real-time monitoring, the county not only enhances efficiency and sustainability but also sets a benchmark for agricultural modernization in Hebei province and beyond.
