EU to Impose Provisional Tariffs on Chinese Electric Cars

In a significant move, the European Union has announced plans to impose provisional tariffs on Chinese electric cars, with rates potentially reaching up to 48%. This decision is likely to escalate tensions between Brussels and Beijing, as the EU aims to protect its own electric vehicle market from what it perceives as unfair competition from China.

Political Shifts and Election Trends

UK Opposition Set for Landslide Victory

Following the unexpected success of Marine Le Pen in the recent French elections, the UK opposition appears poised for a significant victory in upcoming elections. This trend of incumbents being ousted continues in what is being dubbed as the year with the most elections in history.

US Presidential Race Developments

In the United States, President Joe Biden is facing increasing pressure from within his own party after the latest presidential debate. Many Democrats are urging him to step aside, with bookmakers now favoring Vice President Kamala Harris as the preferred nominee at odds of $5, compared to Biden’s $8.50. On the Republican side, former President Donald Trump remains the strong favorite with odds firming to $1.57.

Russian Wheat Exports

According to Bloomberg logistics market intelligence, Russia is actively loading wheat for export to several countries, including Indonesia, Brazil, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia. The recent heatwave in Russia has facilitated the wheat harvest, adding pressure to global wheat markets.
