The inclusion of EkoNiva’s crop varieties in the State Registries of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan marks a significant milestone for agricultural producers in these regions. This expansion not only strengthens EkoNiva’s international presence but also provides local farmers with access to high-yielding, climate-resilient seeds backed by years of successful cultivation.

Proven Success in Kazakhstan

For over a decade, EkoNiva has supplied seeds to Kazakhstan, where its varieties have demonstrated full adaptation to local agro-climatic conditions. Recent state demonstration trials confirmed the superior performance of several key crops:

  • Peas: Rocket and Trendy (approved in East Kazakhstan)
  • Soybeans: EN Avior, EN Argument (East Kazakhstan); EN Argenta, EN Akcent (Akmola region)
  • Spring Barley: Kreshendo, Evgenia, Eiffel, Formula 1 (Kostanay region)
  • Spring Wheat: Likamero (North Kazakhstan and Akmola regions)

Notable yield data:

  • EN Argenta (soybean) achieved 38.9 c/ha under intensive farming in Kostanay.
  • EN Avior (soybean) outperformed local standards in dry regions with 15-20 c/ha.
  • EN Akcent (soybean) boasts 41-43% protein content, making it ideal for high-protein demand markets.
  • EN Argument (soybean), an early-maturing variety, is suited for drought-prone and mountainous areas.

Growing Demand in Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan, EkoNiva’s seeds have been marketed for five years, with spring wheat (Likamero, Cornetto) and spring barley (Eiffel, Explorer, Traveler) now officially approved. These varieties are expected to support the country’s push for higher grain self-sufficiency.

Future Prospects: Expanding the Seed Portfolio

According to Vitaliy Voloshchenko, Director of EkoNiva’s Breeding and Primary Seed Production Center, the company is actively developing new varieties, including:

  • Legumes: peas, lentils, chickpeas
  • Spring cereals: wheat, malting barley
  • Forage crops: grasses, alfalfa, flax

EkoNiva’s expansion into Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan underscores its commitment to sustainable, high-performance agriculture. By offering locally adapted, high-yielding varieties, the company supports farmers in overcoming climate challenges while boosting productivity. As global demand for resilient crops grows, EkoNiva’s breeding programs position it as a key player in international agribusiness.
