In a significant move to boost rice production, Dagestan-based company “Agris” plans to double its rice paddy area to 1,000 hectares by 2025. This expansion aims to enhance regional rice output and revitalize previously unused lands.
Expansion Details
The investment project commenced in June 2024, with “Agris” initially cultivating 470 hectares of rice paddies. The company achieved an impressive average yield of 70 centners per hectare, the highest in the region. Currently, construction is nearing completion on an additional 530 hectares of rice systems on previously abandoned lands in the Tarumovsky district, with full completion expected by May 2025.
Investment and Support
The expansion project involves an investment of 159 million rubles for the development of the additional 530 hectares. “Agris” has submitted an application to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan for subsidies to offset part of the construction costs. The projects have received approval from the Department of Land Reclamation of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
Infrastructure and Equipment Enhancements
In addition to expanding rice paddies, “Agris” is constructing a rice processing plant with a capacity of 5 tons per hour. The company has also invested in modern, energy-efficient tractors to support the increased cultivation area.
“Agris” is making substantial investments to double its rice cultivation area to 1,000 hectares by 2025, aiming to boost regional rice production and revitalize previously unused lands. These efforts are poised to enhance the agricultural landscape of Dagestan.
