Deputy Minister of Agriculture Highlights Strategic Support Measures at National Ile de France Breed Exhibition

The Bulgarian government has disbursed nearly 116 million BGN across ten interventions under the “Production-Linked Support for Animals” scheme to eligible livestock farmers for the 2023 campaign. This announcement was made by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Associate Professor Deyan Stratev, during the opening of the National Ile de France Breed Exhibition in Sliven. He emphasized that the new Strategic Plan for Agriculture and Rural Development 2023-2027 aims to support innovative solutions, increase agricultural incomes, improve competitiveness, protect the environment, and enhance farms’ resilience to climate and market risks.

Deputy Minister Stratev underscored the Ministry of Agriculture and Food’s commitment to creating sustainable development conditions for the agricultural sector and protecting farmers’ interests through various financial instruments. He mentioned that over 290 million BGN has been allocated to farmers under the “Aid to Support the Liquidity of Farmers to Overcome the Negative Economic Impact of Russian Aggression Against Ukraine” scheme.

Regarding the Ile de France breed, Deputy Minister Stratev explained that it is one of two specialized meat breeds in Bulgaria and has a history of over fifty years in the country. The first import of around 100 animals occurred in 1968, growing to approximately 8,000 today.

The livestock exhibition showcased the best Ile de France specimens from various categories, with awards given to the top entries.
