The Ukrainian agricultural sector continues to demonstrate resilience and innovation with the imminent launch of a major new value-added processing facility. LLC “Zolotonosky Bacon,” part of the Time Investment Group, is putting the final touches on its new AMILL-CORN plant in the Cherkasy region. This facility, dedicated solely to processing corn, represents a significant investment in Ukraine’s agri-industrial capabilities and a strategic move to capture more value from one of its key commodity crops.
The cornerstone of the new operation is its impressive 100,000-ton-per-year processing capacity. This substantial volume will consume a significant amount of local grain, providing a reliable offtake for regional corn producers and insulating them from the volatility of global commodity markets. The plant is strategically designed to utilize exclusively Ukrainian-grown corn, ensuring a direct economic benefit to local farmers and strengthening the domestic supply chain.
Leveraging Technology for Premium Products
What sets AMILL-CORN apart is its commitment to quality through modern technology. The plant will employ a unique degermination technology, a sophisticated process that removes the germ and bran from the corn kernel. This results in a purer, higher-quality, and longer-shelf-life final product compared to traditional milling. This focus on quality is essential for competing in premium international markets. The product line will include:
- Corn grits of various fractions
- Corn flour
- Valuable feed by-products, ensuring full utilization of the raw material and minimizing waste
Market Ambitions: From Local to Global
The company’s strategy is ambitiously outward-looking. While it will supply the domestic market with high-quality products, a primary goal is export to Europe, Africa, and Asia. This aligns with Ukraine’s established role as a global agricultural exporter but moves beyond raw commodities into value-added goods. For farmers, this creates a more diversified and stable market. For the region, it means job creation and economic development, reinforcing Ukraine’s critical position in the global food system.
The launch of the AMILL-CORN plant is a positive signal of confidence in Ukrainian agriculture. It moves beyond simple commodity production into sophisticated processing, which is crucial for long-term economic stability and growth. By focusing on advanced technology like degermination and targeting premium export markets, the project demonstrates a forward-thinking approach that benefits the entire supply chain—from the farmer growing the corn to the end consumer. This investment is a testament to the enduring strength and potential of Ukraine’s agri-food sector, even in challenging times.
