Farmers in Stavropol have successfully harvested the first 1.3 million tons of grain, marking a strong start to this year’s campaign. According to regional governor Vladimir Vladimirov, approximately 15% of the planned area has been cleared so far, with optimal harvesting conditions accelerating progress.

Top-Performing Districts

  • Kochubeyevsky District leads with an impressive 72.4 centners per hectare (approx. 7.24 metric tons/ha).
  • Novoaleksandrovsky District follows closely with 64.6 centners/ha (6.46 metric tons/ha).
  • The regional average yield stands at 40.4 centners/ha (4.04 metric tons/ha), reflecting variability across different zones.

Harvesting Speed

The fastest progress is seen in Levokumsky District, where farmers have already surpassed the halfway mark, demonstrating exceptional efficiency in fieldwork.

Global and National Context

For comparison, Russia’s total grain harvest in 2023 reached 147 million tons (Rosstat), with Stavropol traditionally being a key contributor. Early yield reports suggest that 2024 could be another strong year, though weather conditions in the coming weeks will be critical.

Stavropol’s agricultural sector is off to a promising start, with high-yielding districts setting a positive trend. Maintaining this momentum will depend on weather stability and continued efficient harvesting. If current rates hold, the region could meet or exceed its annual production targets, reinforcing its role as a vital grain supplier for Russia.
