In a significant development under Russia’s national ‘Export’ project, the Perm Krai region has dispatched its inaugural shipment of soft wheat seeds, totaling 68 tons, to Mongolia. This initiative, overseen by the regional Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, aims to strengthen agricultural ties and expand Russia’s seed export markets.
Prior to export, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) conducted comprehensive laboratory analyses, confirming the absence of quarantine pests in the shipment. Consequently, a phytosanitary certificate was issued, authorizing the seeds for international dispatch. These seeds are slated for sowing and processing by Mongolian farmers, marking a milestone in agricultural collaboration between the two regions.
Notably, during the same period in 2024, there were no recorded shipments of wheat seeds from Perm Krai to Mongolia, highlighting the progressive nature of this year’s export activities.
The ‘Export’ national project is designed to establish a comprehensive support system for domestic enterprises, facilitating their entry into friendly international markets. Key objectives include optimizing existing mechanisms and enhancing infrastructure to meet the demands of Russian businesses in importing countries. These updated national projects have been in effect since 2025, following directives from President Vladimir Putin.
This export initiative aligns with the broader trend of strengthening trade relations between Russia and Mongolia. In the first seven months of 2024, bilateral trade turnover increased by over 20%, with projections suggesting that mutual trade could reach $2.5 billion by the end of the year.
The successful export of wheat seeds from Perm Krai to Mongolia signifies a promising advancement in agricultural cooperation. This endeavor not only opens new markets for Russian seed producers but also supports Mongolia’s agricultural development, fostering a mutually beneficial partnership.
