Assessing the 2025 Winter Crop Yield Potential and Seed Quality

In the Krasnoyarsk region, a total of 1,984.16 tons of winter crop seeds, including wheat, rye, and triticale, have been sown for the 2025 harvest, covering an area of 8,100 hectares. The leading districts by sowing area are Achinsky, Kuraginsky, and Shushensky.

Experts from the district and inter-district branches of the FGBU “Rosselkhozcenter” in the Krasnoyarsk region have analyzed the quality of the sown seeds. Remarkably, 100% of the seeds meet the requirements of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia’s Order No. 246 (dated May 8, 2024) and the standards set by GOST 52325-2005, which specify the quality criteria for sowing.

Rye continues to dominate the winter crop sowing structure, accounting for 95.4% (7,747.6 hectares) of the total sowing area. This is followed by winter wheat at 3.6% (294 hectares) and winter triticale at 0.9% (77 hectares). The use of domestic crop varieties remains overwhelmingly high, making up 99.9% of the sown seeds. Only 0.1% of the area is planted with foreign varieties, specifically the hybrid winter rye KWS Prommo. The use of regionally adapted seed varieties also shows strong performance: winter wheat at 29%, winter rye at 98%, and winter triticale at 100%.

In total, three domestic winter wheat varieties have been sown: Krasnoobskaya Winter, Soberbash, and Scepter. For winter rye, six domestic varieties and one foreign hybrid were used, including Arga, Vlada, Krasnoyarsk Universal, Petrovna, Short Tetra, Yantarnaya, and the KWS Prommo hybrid. The winter triticale variety selected is SIRS 57, which has proven to be highly suited for the East Siberian region.

Of the sown seeds, 288.5 tons were original and elite seeds, while 1,693.76 tons were reproductive seeds (RS 1-4). The foreign hybrid seeds totaled 1.9 tons, reflecting the focus on high-quality and region-adapted sowing material.
