The Moscow Region is celebrating a remarkable corn harvest this season, with agrarians reporting a total yield of 7,700 tons from 800 hectares. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region, the average yield stands at an impressive 95.1 quintals per hectare, marking a significant achievement for local farmers.

Corn harvesting in this region typically begins in late September and continues until the first frosts set in. The process employs specialized combines designed for optimal efficiency. Farmers utilize two primary methods for harvesting: ear cutting and grain threshing, depending on the desired end product.

Corn reaches maturity through three distinct stages: the milk stage, characterized by white, juicy kernels; the waxy stage, where kernels harden but remain moist; and the biological stage, during which the kernels turn a vibrant yellow-orange and become hard. Harvesting for grain and animal feed occurs at the biological maturity stage, ensuring the best quality and yield.

Recent agricultural reports indicate that favorable weather conditions have played a pivotal role in this year’s successful harvest. The combination of adequate rainfall during the growing season and warm temperatures has enhanced crop development, allowing farmers to maximize their outputs. According to experts, such favorable conditions not only improve the quality of the corn but also increase its nutritional value, making it a vital resource for both human consumption and livestock feed.

Furthermore, the Moscow Region’s agricultural strategy emphasizes the importance of diversifying crop production to ensure food security and sustainability. With corn being a staple crop, its successful cultivation contributes significantly to the local economy, providing essential fodder for livestock and supporting the region’s dairy and meat industries.
