Trumer Brewery’s New Venture into Plant-Based Milks

The Trumer Privatbrauerei in Obertrum, near Salzburg, is renowned for its beer specialties. Now, it is venturing into the plant-based milk market with its innovative product, SIGL Bio Hafer & Gerste. This new milk alternative combines oats and barley, reflecting Trumer’s expertise in grain processing. The product promises high quality and a distinctive taste, thanks to the use of barley malt. It is available in 1-liter cartons at select SPAR stores in Salzburg and regional grocers.

The Unique Flavor Profile of SIGL Bio Oat & Barley

The SIGL Bio Hafer & Gerste boasts a slightly caramelized note and natural sweetness derived from its grains. Seppi Sigl, the owner of Trumer Privatbrauerei, explains, “Our family business has been creating the best from grains since 1601. We leverage our centuries-old knowledge of grain processing and use only natural enzymes from barley malt for SIGL Bio Hafer & Gerste.” This new milk alternative contains no artificial additives, using only natural ingredients: deep-well water from their source, organically farmed oats, barley malt, and rapeseed oil. The combination of oats and barley gives the product a particularly balanced flavor.

A Commitment to Quality and Independence

Trumer Privatbrauerei aims to make a significant mark in the growing plant-based milk market, demonstrating that small, independent breweries can compete with large international corporations. SIGL Bio Hafer & Gerste is free from artificial additives and corporate influence. Seppi Sigl emphasizes the importance of independence for their eighth-generation family business: “As a family business, our independence is crucial. It ensures we always prioritize the best taste over investor interests. Our product is of exceptional quality and a genuine Austrian alternative to international competitors. We are committed to long-term beliefs and improving plant-based foods for a better future.”

Merging Tradition with Innovation

For the SIGL brand, Trumer collaborated with the renowned design agency moodley. The branding connects the brewery’s heritage with modern aesthetics, featuring a warm cornfield-yellow color scheme on the packaging. This design element aligns with Trumer’s forward-thinking business culture, appealing to consumers who appreciate high-quality, sustainable foods. The 1-liter carton of SIGL Bio Hafer & Gerste is currently available, and the brewery is also developing an Austrian glass reusable solution for the future.

Trumer Privatbrauerei’s entry into the plant-based milk market with SIGL Bio Hafer & Gerste showcases the potential of combining traditional brewing expertise with innovative food solutions. This product reflects the brewery’s dedication to quality, sustainability, and independence, offering consumers a unique and flavorful milk alternative.
