A Bumper Harvest in Krupki District: Winter Rape and Spring Barley Lead the Way

The Krupki District is witnessing an intense and productive harvest season as farmers combine efforts to reap winter rape and spring barley. The total area dedicated to barley harvesting this year surpasses 1,000 hectares, promising yields of about 35 centners per hectare, an impressive increase from last year’s average of 25 centners per hectare.

Record Yields and Efficient Practices

Denis Kirikovich, First Deputy Chairman and Head of Agriculture and Food Management in Krupki District, reports that grain yields in the district exceed the regional average, with some farms achieving over 40 centners per hectare, primarily from winter barley. The total area earmarked for harvesting spans more than 18,500 hectares, with favorable moisture levels and comprehensive care practices contributing to the promising outlook.

Leading Farms and Optimistic Farmers

Key contributors to the barley harvest include OAO “Klenovichi” and OAO “Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky,” which have commenced threshing the ripened barley. Alexey Svetlov, a seasoned combine operator from OAO “Klenovichi,” shares his optimism about the harvest. With decades of experience and a well-prepared combine, he anticipates a swift and bountiful yield, confident in the quality of the grain and the performance of his equipment.

Quality and Market Potential

Nikolai Sadovsky, Acting Chief Agronomist at OAO “Klenovichi,” emphasizes the high quality of the spring barley. Should the grain meet brewing standards, it can be sold at a premium price, providing additional revenue for the farm. This focus on quality and marketability reflects the responsible and strategic approach of local agricultural organizations towards crop cultivation and harvesting.

Regional Efforts and Goals

The regional agriculture and food committee reports that all districts in Minsk Oblast are actively engaged in harvesting spring crops. As of July 19, a total of 560,500 tons of grain, including oilseed rape, has been threshed across 93,900 hectares of grain and leguminous crops, and 57,900 hectares of winter rape. The primary objective remains to harvest and preserve every grain, ensuring a successful and efficient season.

The parallel harvesting of winter rape and spring barley in Krupki District illustrates the efficiency and potential of modern agricultural practices. With favorable weather, meticulous planning, and dedicated farmers, the district is set for a record-breaking harvest. The anticipated high yields and grain quality underscore the importance of continued innovation and support in the agricultural sector.
